|Notes:||Heard about the Drive Archive on Steve Wright in the afternoon on BBC Radio 2 and loved the idea.|
|Notes:||Purchased form a "car salesman" in Aldershot, Hants in July 2005. I travelled up by train to collect it and it drove faultlessly back to Cornwall. The rear springs were sagging when I bought it, so they were replaced within a month of purchase.
Once bought, I made a series of cosmetic modifications that were reversible when I wanted to sell the car.
I removed the Laser stripes, added black headlight surrounds, a Mk II grille and Ghia alloys.
I also fitted a walnut dash that was pre-cut to allow fitting of a modern stereo.
As a daily driver, I was disheartened with it - I saw some rust spots forming that would eventually need attention. These would have been fine if it were elsewhere in the country - but in Cornwall, the sea air doesnt take long to get grip. Lack of power steering plus 250 miles MAX per tank of fuel didnt impress me an awful lot. So I bought a 16v Ford Probe and advertised the Capri in our local paper.
Had 3 eager calls for it and it was sold 2 days after advertising.
|Fate:||Sold to a couple in Hayle, Cornwall.
I saw it a few times after I had it and was a wreck - the front valance had been knocked in, bits were hanging off it, I was gutted...
