|Notes:||"Local man spends two years searching for first car - a 1973 Volkswagen Beetle"
Many of us reminisce, often with rose-tinted glasses, about our first cars and the joyous times that we enjoyed with them - many of these cars were given fond names and personalities by their owners.
Its that same emotional connection to his first car that led Ollie to try and trace the current owner of his first car - a classic 1973 Volkswagen Beetle (registration VDY 636M) painted in bright apple green and affectionately called Kermit. He is asking the readers of Drive Archive for their help in finding the vehicle, or for them to pass over any information that may help locate the owners.
After spending many summer holidays working hard to save up enough to buy his dream car, Ollie purchased it aged 14 and spent the next 5 years semi-restoring the classic car to roadworthy condition.
Ollie says, "I covered many thousands of miles in it, mostly from 1998 to 2002 (having owned it from the mid 90s) but I sold it in 2003 to pay for University fees, and whilst I really didnt want to sell it I knew I couldnt afford to give it the mechanical attention it really deserved. In hindsight, I think I knew I may never see it again, but that hasnt stopped me thinking about it almost every day. I sold it to a retired couple in Somerset, who I re-connected with and who told me they had sold it approx. 5 years ago to a man in the Somerset area. I would really like to approach the current owners to see if they would consider selling it back to me. Its purely sentimental, but it would fill a hole in my heart as I really did love that car"
The car is thought to be stored somewhere and a DVLA search shows that it has no MOT or tax and is currently held on a SORN. Ollie, who has since owned over 20 classic Volkswagens, is asking anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of this vehicle or the owners to contact him through Drive Archive as he would like to re-purchase the vehicle and keep it within his family forever.
|Fate:||IF YOU ARE THE CURRENT OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE PLEASE MAKE CONTACT AS I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE IT BACK|
